Welcome to the new website of the UEMS PRM Section !

This is the new official website of the UEMS PRM Section and Board. You will find here all updated information about the activities of the three Committees which implement the Action Plan published in February 2009 :

  • European Board of PRM: Education (initial teaching and training, CME/CPD, accreditation of European PRM teaching and training events). President : Pr Franco Franchignoni (Italy).
  • Clinical Affairs Committee: Quality of Care, based on the concept of PRM Programmes of Care. Chairman : Dr Georges de Korvin (France).
  • Professional Practice: Fields of Competence. Chairman : Pr Christoph Gutenbrunner (Germany).

On behalf of Prof. Alain Delarque, President of the UEMS PRM Section and of Prof. Franco Franchignoni, President of the European PRM Board, we thank you for your interest in European PRM Activities. PRM Specialists are all invited to bring their contribution and to apply to the European PRM Board Certification (by examination or by equivalence). This is the first step before applying for the certification as a Trainer or for a Training Centre.

PRM Trainees will take profit from free or low cost registration in some PRM Congresses and European training courses. All Board certified specialists will also benefit from cut off subscription to several European Journals. Details will soon be displayed on this website.

European Board Certified Specialists can also participate in the European Accreditation of PRM Programmes of Care, which is organized by the Clinical Affairs Committee. This will contribute to a full description of PRM daily practice and to the promotion of Quality of Care all over Europe.

Letter to Board Certified PRM Fellows

Dear colleagues, Board certified PRM Fellows,

It is the wish of the Board to publish your name listed by country in public part of this web site. We hope that you will not object to be listed in this positive way, since your Board Certification expresses your excellence in acquiring and maintaining European standards in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. In following months, we shall try to contact you in person to obtain your permission to do this, too. In case we could not contact you and you are reluctant to be listed in public please inform Board Deputy Secretary Sasa Moslavac ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ). We shall not publish any other information but the country and your name.

Thank you very much.

Special offer for Recertification of Board Fellows

We are announcing a special offer to all Board Certified colleagues whose Certification had already expired. To all who apply for Recertification until June 30th 2010, and if the decision of the Jury is positive, the next Recertification period shall be for 10 years from the time of decision on. This is a special offer, because - as you probably know - the rules claim that the Recertification period normally starts from the expiry of the last Certification period. This exception of the rule will enable you to renew your Board Certificate for the next 10 years (even if your Certificate had expired some time ago), and to immediately become “Senior Fellow of the European Board of PRM”. Conversely, your diploma expires and you loose the above special benefits and denomination.

To apply for Board Recertification, you have only to send to the National Manager of your country a CPD/CME curriculum of the five past years, and to our Treasurer the registration form and a proof of payment of the fees of 100 euros.

Clinical Affairs

The European Accreditation of PRM Programmes of Care is running on!

After a two years Pilot Phase, the European Accreditation has been upgraded by the UEMS Prm Section during its General Assembly in Cambridge, March 2009. The new procedure gives more space to the full description of the background and the medical content of the PRM Programme of Care.

Thirteen programmes from all parts of Europe have already been accredited and demonstrate the wide scope of our specialty. All delegates participating in the Clinical Affairs Committee have committed themselves to present a programme of their own before next General Assembly in Vilnius, September 2009. There is no doubt that this will bring very interesting material for the description and the assessment of PRM daily practice in various environments throughout Europe.

After our sussessfull experiences in Brugge (ESPRM), Saint-Malo and Mulhouse (SOFMER), Roma (SIMFER) and Riga (Baltic Congress), other Sessions on Quality of Care have been scheduled in Istambul (ISPRM World Congress - June 2009) and Lyon (SOFMER - October 2009). Accredited Programmes of Care will be presented.

We are looking forward to reading a programme of your own !

Dr Georges de Korvin, Chairman of Clinical Affairs
